Oct 23, 7:10 AM ET: MDA, Israel’s national ambulance service, said it took both girls to the hospital in “moderate condition.”
Donors read the first version. It made the injuries sound smaller and left out the hospital trip.
The proof
Their statement: 4:57 AM ET, Oct 23, 2026 — Ichud Hatzalah of Israel 1221 Telegram: its medics treated “the two scooter riders (aged 17), who were lightly injured.” No hospital named; MDA not mentioned.
The record: 7:10 AM ET — MDA spokesperson: crews took “2 girls aged 17” to Assuta Ashdod “in moderate condition, with injuries to the limbs and upper body.” Kikar HaShabbat ran the “light” version 12 minutes after the release (5:09 AM ET).
Which is it? Assessments can change after first treatment; which assessment is right is unproven.
